The 2012 GPP Shootout Video is In...

You've already seen the post mortem and final pics from this year's Gulf Photo Plus shootout. But now the official videotape version of Martin Prihoda and yours truly getting our butts kicked by Mr. Heisler is live, for your entertainment.

Oh, and hit the jump for a slideshow of student work from 2012...

Teaching at GPP is a hoot, even if I only had one shooting class this year. (Blogging and Nontraditional Digital Bizmodel classes don't make for slideshow fodder.)

I am generally off of the non-family travel treadmill this year, but GPP is the one thing I could not resist. I highly recommend it. To the adventurous I say, sell some plasma start saving to get out there in 2013...

Awesome! Been waiting patiently for this to come out. I still think all three portrait were cool. Also, that's a great likeness of McNally and Burnett at the beginning. :)

David, what were you thinking when you saw Greg's image show up on the screen?

Ummmmmm I think Mr. Heisler was... how do you say... cheating? Looked like tons of fun. Great video/marketing piece for the GPP folks. More schools should do a better job of marketing their talent with this type of finished piece.
Thanks as always.

To JC-

Got your comment and request, but that is a can of worms I no longer open on this blog. It's not my niche. ;)

More please.
Book. Please.

After seeing your Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque shots the other day, I thought "I want to see more".

The next obvious thought was all that talent in the GPP faculty. They should publish a book of some of their shots taken during their GPP 201x trip.

Now I think that that was a narrow minded thought.
The book needs to include student shots too.
My bad.

Actually doesn't have to be a book, an App slide show/album would be nearly as good and probably far faster to produce and easier to distribute.

So much talent, seems a pity not to harness it, and actually produce a tangible product.

Do it every year and you guys could fund a 3rd word or young shooter(s) to attend, help out an orphanage or whatever.

Heck if you really want divide up the funds and disburse them amongst yourselves - I'm no commie, and that is none of my business - I just want to see more of the shots.

David, you're absolutely right. Gulf Photo Plus is a must to get a good week's worth of photgraphic education. Great to see you there.

I was really looking forward to the shootout video. This years video was disappointing, there was no audio!! We had to listen to the terrible backing track for 6 minutes. I wanted to here the commentary by McNally and Zack, would have been hilarious I'm sure. I wanted to hear Heislers reaction when he was told it was a self portrait. Now I'm just frustrated and unfulfilled.

Posted your comment complaining about the lack of extra layers of info in the GPP vid -- with more than a little hint of irony, given your absolute-bare-minimum-above-anonymous profile.

Hi David,

I loved the photo shoot out and yes, your creative bums were handed to you by Mr. Heisler. I love the way your mind works using ipads for light -- genius!
